Comprehensive Rebuild Process
Each cylinder head begins with a thorough hot tank cleaning to remove all oil and grime, followed by a sandblast treatment that eliminates corrosion and restores a uniform satin aluminum finish for improved appearance and longevity.
- Oil Port and Freeze Plug Service: Removal, cleaning, re-tapping, and installation of all oil port plugs ensure clean oil galleys; freeze plugs are also replaced to maintain sealing integrity.
- Valve Guides: Old valve guides are removed, re-installed, and precision-reamed using durable Supertech bronze guides for optimal valve alignment and longevity.
- Multi-Angle Valve Job: Optional precision cutting of multiple valve seat angles to enhance airflow and engine efficiency.
- Surfacing: The head surface is resurfaced with a poly-crystalline diamond (PCD) tool for a flat, smooth sealing surface.
- Valve Seals Replacement: New Viton valve seals are installed to prevent leaks and ensure dependable operation.
- Assembly and Adjustment: Installation of Supertech valves, titanium retainers, and valve spring kits is completed, followed by valve lash setting to camshaft specification.

Core and Options
A core cylinder head with cam caps and OEM buckets is required. Customers may send in their own cores or purchase one through Mazworx. For variable valve timing (VVL) heads, cores are sourced via complete engines—please specify additional parts needed.
Optional upgrades include shimless buckets and machining for Hall Effect sensor installation or 1/2″ head studs, recommended for applications exceeding 600 horsepower.
Camshaft Recommendations
Mazworx recommends Kelford 184-T camshafts for high-RPM turbocharged builds. For race-only applications, disabling the VVL lobe is advised to reduce valvetrain mass and improve oil flow at high rpm.
