Professional Block Preparation Process

• Hot Tank Cleaning: Thoroughly cleans the block to remove oil, grime, and contaminants, ensuring a pristine surface for subsequent work.
• Sand Blasting and Painting: The block is sandblasted to restore a clean, smooth exterior, then painted with semi-gloss black for a durable and attractive finish.
• Threaded and O-Ringed Freeze Plugs: Upgrading from OEM plugs, CNC-machined holes accept high-quality threaded freeze plugs with O-rings to prevent leaks and ensure secure fitment under high boost conditions.
• Boring and Honing: Utilizing a 3-axis CNC boring machine, cylinder bores are precisely centered. Diamond tooling on a Sunnen SV-10 hone ensures an exceptional cylinder finish critical for performance and longevity.
• Main Stud Installation and Line Honing: ARP main studs are professionally installed, followed by exact line honing to achieve precise alignment and structural integrity.
• Surfacing: The block deck is surfaced using a coated CBN cutter to ensure a flat and smooth sealing surface.
• Oil Port Plug Removal and Upgrades: All oil port plugs are removed for thorough cleaning and CNC machining to accommodate threaded, O-ringed plugs — enhancing sealing and serviceability. The oil plug and orifice on the deck are also removed, cleaned, and reinstalled with upgraded plugs.
• Torque Plate Honing: Honing with a Mazworx-custom torque plate simulates cylinder head clamping, maintaining accurate bore geometry during assembly. This step is essential for blocks with installed sleeves and optional for stock sleeves.
