• Hot Tank Cleaning: The engine block undergoes thorough cleaning to remove all oil residues and grime, ensuring a clean surface for further processing.
• Sand Blasting and Painting: After cleaning, the block is sand blasted to restore its surface, then painted with semi-gloss black paint for a fresh, durable finish.
• 12mm Head Stud Machining: Upgrading from the original 11mm head studs of the RB30, this service machines the block to accept 12mm studs, allowing compatibility with RB26 head studs. Machining is required if not using an RB26 head.
• Threaded and O-ringed Freeze Plugs: The freeze plug holes are CNC machined to fit threaded plugs with O-rings, addressing common issues with OEM plugs leaking or popping under high boost.
• Precision Boring and Honing: Utilizing a 3-axis CNC machine for boring followed by honing on the latest Sunnen SV-10 cylinder hone with diamond tooling, ensuring perfectly centered and finished cylinder bores.
• Oil Groove Machining: Adds a groove in the upper main journals to accommodate 5-hole main bearings, improving oil flow to the mains and rods — a feature standard on RB26 blocks and available for others.
• Main Stud Installation and Line Honing: ARP main stud kit is installed and line honing is performed to achieve exact specifications.
• Coated CBN Cutter Surfacing: The block’s surface is precision machined using a coated Cubic Boron Nitride cutter for durability and accuracy.
• Removal and Upgrading of Oil Port Plugs: All oil port plugs are removed to allow thorough cleaning of oil galleys, then CNC machined to accept Mazworx O-ring threaded plugs for a reliable seal and easy future removal. The deck oil plug and orifice are also removed, cleaned, and tapped for new plugs.
• Torque Plate Honing: A torque plate, custom-made for each block type, simulates the cylinder head bolted condition during honing, ensuring true cylinder dimensions after assembly. This step is mandatory with sleeve installations and optional for stock sleeve blocks.
• Conversion for RB26 AWD Oil Pan: Includes machining and provision of an adapter plate required for fitting an RB26 all-wheel-drive oil pan.
