Comprehensive Block Preparation and Machining

• Hot Tank Cleaning: Thoroughly removes oil, grime, and contaminants from the block to ensure a clean surface for all subsequent processes.
• Sand Blasting: Eliminates corrosion and debris from aging blocks — often over 20 years old — restoring the aluminum to a uniform satin finish and improving overall appearance.
• Darton Dry Sleeve Installation: Enables reliable power handling beyond 400 hp; sleeves made of durable ductile iron support up to and beyond 1000 hp. This includes removal of old sleeves, precise machining for new sleeve fitment, and the critical step decking process to enhance head gasket sealing under high boost.
• Precision Boring & Honing: Boring is performed on a 3-axis CNC machine ensuring perfectly centered cylinder bores, followed by honing with a Sunnen SV-10 diamond tooling hone for an optimal cylinder finish. Bore sizes range from 86mm to 90mm to suit your build requirements.
• Step Deck Surfacing: The block deck surface is machined to a step deck design, allowing sleeves to extend above the block deck. This concentrates clamping forces around the sleeves to maintain head gasket integrity under extreme conditions.
• Oil Port Plug Removal and Upgrades: All oil port plugs are removed and replaced with threaded plugs featuring O-rings for improved sealing and ease of future maintenance. Main oil galley holes are CNC machined to accommodate these upgrades.
• Freeze Plug Upgrades: OEM freeze plugs are replaced with threaded and O-ring sealed plugs for enhanced reliability.
• Torque Plate Honing: Utilizing custom torque plates to simulate head clamping during honing, this ensures true cylinder geometry after assembly, especially critical with sleeve installations.
• Main Studs, Caps, and Line Boring: Blocks are line bored following careful cap grinding to OEM specifications. Mazworx billet main caps, girdle, and ARP main studs are included for superior strength and durability.
• Oil Groove Machining: Available for GTi-R and VE blocks or added to other blocks, oil grooves in the main journals allow use of 5-hole main bearings for improved oil flow to main and rod bearings.
• Front Main Oil Squirter Upgrade: The OEM oil squirter, prone to failure, is replaced with a threaded Mazworx model to provide reliable oil delivery to the timing chain system.
• RWD Oil Drain Hole Plug: For builds using a VE (FWD) head on a RWD block, this oil drain hole is plugged as part of the service when selecting the VE oil pump option.
