Comprehensive Cleaning and Refinishing

The process begins with a thorough hot tank cleaning to remove oil, grime, and debris from the block. Following cleaning, the block is sand blasted to restore its appearance, preparing the surface for painting. A durable semi-gloss black paint is then applied to the exterior, providing a clean and professional finish.

Enhanced Freeze Plug Upgrades

To address common issues with OEM freeze plugs leaking or popping out under high boost, Mazworx CNC machines the freeze plug holes to accept specially designed threaded and o-ringed freeze plugs. These plugs ensure a secure, leak-free seal capable of handling demanding performance applications.

Precision Boring and Honing

The cylinder bores are machined on a 3-axis CNC machine for perfect centering, followed by honing using a state-of-the-art Sunnen SV-10 cylinder honing machine equipped with diamond tooling. This provides the ultimate finish for optimal ring seating and cylinder performance.

Main Studs, Caps, and Line Boring

The main journals are line bored using custom tooling on a precision line boring machine, ensuring accurate bore dimensions within factory specifications. Following line boring, line honing is performed for exact sizing. The process includes cap grinding and features Mazworx billet main caps paired with an ARP main stud kit to deliver superior strength and durability.

Surface Refinement and Oil Port Improvements

The block’s deck surface is machined on a Centroid A560XL CNC using a coated CBN cutter for a clean, flat sealing surface. All oil port plugs are removed to allow thorough cleaning of the oil galleries, then CNC machined to accept Mazworx o-ringed threaded plugs. These plugs provide a reliable seal and are designed for easy removal in future maintenance.

Torque Plate Honing

Mazworx provides custom torque plates that simulate the cylinder head being bolted on during the honing process. This technique ensures the cylinders remain perfectly round and aligned during assembly, critical for optimal engine performance. Torque plate honing is a standard procedure for blocks with sleeve installations and is an optional upgrade on stock sleeve blocks.
